Abstract

This article presents two selected properties of expanded polypropylene. Thermal conductivity and compressive strength were examined. These properties were investigated to assess the suitability of the material for use in unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) structures. Both sufficiently low thermal conductivity and adequate compressive strength are required due to the wide range of UAV applications, including military ones. The test results do not provide grounds for rejecting the material as a potential structural material for the construction of supporting elements in unmanned aerial vehicles (drones). This article also presents basic information on the design and materials used in the construction of currently produced unmanned aerial vehicles. Potential applications of unmanned aerial vehicles are also discussed.
